OIPA International is pleased to introduce OIPA Heroes, a new podcast dedicated to the people who are making a meaningful difference for animals around the world.
Through conversations with OIPA representatives, member leagues, volunteers, activists, veterinarians and other changemakers, the podcast will share stories of courage, commitment and positive action. Each episode will offer a closer look at the people behind animal protection initiatives, exploring their personal journeys, the challenges they face and the change they are creating within their communities.
For the first episode of OIPA Heroes, we meet Shao Ran, a passionate advocate for animal rights.
A former dolphin trainer, Shao experienced firsthand the hidden reality of marine mammal captivity. What began as a childhood dream gradually became a profound personal awakening, leading her to leave the industry and dedicate herself to animal advocacy, education and ethical awareness. Her work now addresses the protection of marine mammals, farmed animals and other sentient beings, while encouraging greater compassion and cultural change in China.
In this conversation, Shao reflects on the experiences that transformed her life, the challenges facing animal advocates in China, the importance of educating younger generations and the role of international cooperation in building a more compassionate future.
